Have you ever tried to carry every single grocery bag from your car into the house in one trip? Your fingers turn red, your back hurts, and you end up dropping things on the porch—all because you didn't want to make a second trip or ask for help!

A lot of us live our daily lives the exact same way. We try to handle every problem at work, fix every family issue, and carry every burden all by ourselves until we are exhausted and burned out.

In this message from Exodus 18:1–24, Pastor looks at the story of Moses and his father-in-law, Jethro. Moses was sitting alone from morning until evening trying to solve two million people's problems all by himself!

Jethro gave him some simple, life-changing advice: "What you are doing is not good... the load is too heavy for you". God shows us how to lighten our heavy burdens—at church, at work, and in our homes.

Key Takeaways & Life Applications

You Weren't Made to Carry Everything Alone: God never designed one person to fix every problem or carry every load. Don't be afraid to ask for help and share responsibility with trustworthy people around you.

Serve God, Not Your Ego (Beware the Savior Complex): Trying to solve everyone’s problems can make us feel needed, but people will eventually make mistakes and let us down. When you focus on pleasing God first, you can love and serve people without getting worn out or bitter.

Be a Priest, Not a Savior: A priest doesn't fix everything on their own—they bring the people's needs, pain, and cases before God in prayer. Take the heavy burdens you can't fix and lay them down at Jesus' feet.

Keep Your Ear to the Watchtower: Just like a pilot stays in touch with the airport watchtower to fly safely through rough storms, we need to keep our ears open to God’s Word so He can guide our steps every day.
